Salado Tourism - Sam Houston Grant

Salado has been inspiring people for generations, beginning with the Tonkawa Native Americans who camped along the lush banks of the creek, and extending to the American settlers who arrived permanently in the 1850s. The founders of Salado established one of the nation’s first coeducational colleges, Salado College, which brought many visionary families to the area and established it as a beacon of culture. Salado’s early development was also defined by its location along the stagecoach route and the Chisholm Trail, both of which brought a steady influx of visitors that helped to establish one of the oldest hotels in Texas, now known as the Stagecoach Inn. In the 1960s, Salado became known for the haute couture shop of Grace Jones, a former WASP and model who attracted a worldly clientele including Lady Bird Johnson and Liz Carpenter.  Today, Salado is a diverse, creative destination that continues to inspire with its artists, boutiques, wineries, microbrewery, fine restaurants, and more. Designated a Cultural District by the Texas Commission on the Arts due to our dynamic community of world-renowned artists, a visit to Salado wouldn’t be complete without checking out the studios and galleries of our glassblowers, potters, jewelers, painters, and more. The Stagecoach Inn pays homage to our rich past while also forging a modern identity of rustic luxury. In Salado, you’ll enjoy one-of-kind shopping experiences, world-class food, exciting art, and a sense of serenity found nowhere else. Come to Salado and be inspired! https://visitsaladotexas.com/

Humanities Texas - "Kit N' Caboodle Grant"

Humanities Texas advances education through programs that improve the quality of classroom teaching, support libraries and museums, and create opportunities for lifelong learning.  We strengthen Texas communities by conducting and supporting programs that cultivate the knowledge and judgment that representative democracy demands of its citizens. These programs also contribute to Texas’s thriving economy, culture, and civic life.  Founded in 1973 as the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), Humanities Texas is one of fifty-six state and jurisdictional humanities councils in the U.S. We are a nonprofit, educational organization supported by federal and state appropriations, as well as by foundations, corporations, and individuals. Our volunteer board is a model of leadership, ensuring we execute our mission while providing careful stewardship of our funding resources. https://www.humanitiestexas.org

Barrow Brewing - Wrangler Level & Official Event Watering Hole

Barrow Brewing Company was founded in 2014 after a petition, an election to change the laws in our village, and basically moving a few mountains. We spent the better portion of 2014 scheming and finally settled on the old Silver Spur Theater as our prime location for Bell County’s first microbrewery. In 2015 we executed our plans with contractors, plumbers, electricians, carpenters, and volunteers. We learned a lot and made some great friends while turning an old pole barn granary into a brewery. Quality, sustainability, and community are the three words that define so much of what Barrow Brewing Company is about. We strive to be a sustainable business that encourages drinking local, supporting local businesses, and taking steps to lower our carbon footprint. https://www.barrowbrewing.com

Summerlee Foundation - Trail Boss Grant

Since 1988, the Texas History Program has embraced a broad and diverse group of projects from all regions of Texas. These projects have included the disciplines of archaeology, archives, libraries, media, museums, middle and secondary schools, higher education, preservation, publications and scholarly research.

Bell County Historical Society - Pioneer Grant

Our Purpose  The major emphasis of the Bell County Historical Society is the collection and preservation of  historical documents, photographs, and artifacts of the Cumberland Gap area including the adjacent counties of Harlan and Knox Counties from which Bell County was formed on February 5, 1867.  We are pleased to be able to display artifacts given to the museum as well as those loaned for a specific or indefinite length of time. The Museum  The historic building housing our museum, built as the Carnegie Library and deep-rooted in the enrichment and educational development of the citizens of Middlesboro, still follows the legacy of Andrew Carnegie. It remains dedicated to learning and enlightenment, providing an opportunity for the youth of this generation to know and appreciate the rich cultural heritage of this region, the region which witnessed thousands of early pioneers traveling along the Wilderness Trail, through the Cumberland Gap and into  Kentucky. A great many made permanent homes here in Kentucky.  https://www.bellcountyhistorical.com/
